Mary Shapiro & Christopher Cox

Christopher Cox, chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has resigned - effective of January 20. The appointment of his successor Mary Shapiro was leaked prior to the Obama administration taking office, but Shapiro was formally confirmed by the US Senate as the twenty-ninth chairperson of the SEC - and its first chairwoman - on January 22.
