BGI appoints new head for Europe & Asia

Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has appointed David Semaya as its new CEO of Europe & Asia (excluding Japan). Semaya, who joins from BGI Japan Trust and Banking Co. Ltd where he is president and CEO, will be replacing Nigel Williams when he retires in mid-2007. Semaya has spent almost seven years in his current role. Before that, he worked for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Co., Japan, where he was the senior executive responsible for all of Merrill Lynch's asset management activities in the
