Greece creates new insurance supervisory authority

The Greek government has appointed Yannis Vassis as the chief executive of the newly created insurance supervisory authority. The new authority, which will have an independent board, is being set up by the ministry of finance, which is taking over responsibility for insurance supervision from the ministry of development. Prior to his appointment, Vassis worked at the Greek Insurance Association and for Italian insurance group, Generali.
