Matthews jumps ship

Trevor Matthews, head of Standard Life's UK retail division, has been named the chief executive of Friends Provident. He replaces Phillip Moore, who left the company in November 2007. Meanwhile, Sir Adrian Montague, chairman, had been overseeing the chief executive role. Matthews will report to Montague. Sandy Crombie, group chief executive at Standard Life, will lead UK Financial Services until a successor for Trevor Matthews has been appointed.
