EDF Trading makes Polish power debut

EDF Trading has completed its first electricity trades in Poland, executed in the spot and forward markets, after obtaining a Polish trading licence.

Poland is the largest energy consumer in Central and Eastern Europe.EDF Trading says that market liquidity in Poland should improve in the future, with tax regime changes and the possibility that tariffs may disappear.

EDF Trading set up a Central Europe team in 2005 covering 12 countries including Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, where the EDF Group has investments, as well as Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania and Slovenia. It is working with the EDF Group’s local companies in the region
