Merrill’s strategy shift

Over the past few months, Merrill Lynch has made a number of changes to its management teams, including senior-level executives, fueling speculation that the investment bank is positioning itself to expand in several markets, especially the high-yield bond market.

Jessica Oppenheim, spokeswoman for Merrill Lynch, confirmed that the investment bank is trying to improve its standing in the league tables and is aiming for a top five position in the underwriting market.
