Private equity is becoming an increasingly popular alternative investment for Asia's wealthy individuals. But investors should be aware that private equity investing is a long-term venture

As Asians find themselves increasingly wealthy, they have been looking for new regions and asset classes in which to further grow their riches. Asia-Pacific high-net-worth individual (HNWI) wealth represented $7.6 trillion, or 22.9%, of the total global individual wealth pool of $33.2 trillion in 2005, according to last year's Merrill Lynch/Capgemini Asia-Pacific Wealth Report.
