Appointment at HSBC

David Burnett, former chief operating officer (COO) for corporate, investment banking and markets (CIBM) at HSBC, becomes head of global research. Burnett will oversee six people in his new role: Stephen King, chief economist and head of macro research; Phil Poole, head of emerging markets research; Van Hesser, head of credit research; Steve Major, head of rates research; David Bloom, head of FX research; and Graham Copley, head of equities research. There will be no replacement for the COO role
