Nomura names equity heads for Asia and Europe

Japanese bank Nomura has named new heads of equity for Asia and Europe, who will take up their posts on November 1, as it continues to integrate the former Asian and European operations of Lehman Brothers which it acquired in September.

Sigurbjorn Thorkelsson, Lehman Brothers' former Asian head of equity, will take the same role at Nomura. He succeeds Tomoyuki Teraguchi, formerly the Hong Kong-based head of equity for Asia excluding Japan.

Teraguchi is now transition leader for Asia equity and will head the integration of the equity businesses for Japan and the rest of Asia.

Lehman's head of equity for Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Rachid Bouzouba, will step into the same role at Nomura; he succeeds Maoyuki Aguri, previously head of equity for Europe, who is now equity strategy officer for Europe.

Bouzouba and Thorkelsson will report to Hiromasa Yamazaki, Tokyo-based head of global equity at the Japanese bank.

The new appointments cover cash and non-cash businesses, including derivatives, electronic trading, and prime brokerage.
