BarCap names EM equity head

Barclays Capital has named Nicholas Moreira as head of emerging markets equity derivatives trading.

Moreira will be based in London. He joins Barclays from Credit Suisse, where he was head of European derivatives trading, and will report to the head of equity derivatives, Dixit Joshi. He will take charge of equity derivatives trading in eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America - a newly created post that Barclays says represents its increased focus on emerging markets.

Four others have also joined the equity derivatives team. Avinash Shown-Keen and Jan-Hendrik Petersen join the London emerging markets team as traders from Dresdner Kleinwort. Nicolas Vong joins from Merrill Lynch as head of corporate equity derivatives for the Asia-Pacific region. He will be based in Hong Kong, as will David Luk, who joins as a trader from Morgan Stanley.
