Taiwan Futures Exchange names new chairman

Andy Yeh today became the new chairman of Taiwan Futures Exchange (Taifex), replacing Rong-I Wu, who is now chairman of Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation.

Yeh had previously worked at Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) for 12 years, most recently as chairman, and the clearing system being used by Taifex was developed and is maintained by TDCC.

“Taifex and TDCC have established a long-term co-operative relationship on the clearing system and product development,” said Yeh. “Based on the solid foundation laid by our regulatory authority, Taifex and our market participants, I will continue to develop Taifex into an efficient and international derivatives market-place.

“Our main focus will be on developing new products, improvising trading and clearing systems, strengthening international co-operation, increasing institutional and foreign participation, and enhancing risk management and market surveillance,” he added.
