ECX names new chief executive and chairman

The Amsterdam-based European Climate Exchange has named the former head of LCH.Clearnet, Patrick Burley, as its new chief executive.

Birley replaces Peter Koster, who will become chairman of the exchange. The previous chairman, Neil Eckert, is now chief executive of Climate Exchange, which owns and operates the ECX, as well as other climate exchanges such as the Chicago Climate Exchange and the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange. He will remain a non-executive director of ECX.
