BNP Paribas lures Flannery from Deutsche Bank

Matthew Flannery has jumped ship from Deutsche Bank to BNP Paribas’ equity finance trading division. As a New York-based director at BNP Paribas, he will be responsible for helping build the French dealer's equity swaps and synthetic prime brokerage business.

BNP Paribas has yet to hire a head of equity finance trading, so Flannery will initially report directly to Todd Steinberg, head of equities and derivatives in the Americas.

At Deutsche Bank, Flannery was responsible for equity swaps and synthetic financing activities with hedge funds. Prior to that, he worked in the equity derivatives divisions at NatWest Securities and Paine Webber.

“We are committed to building a robust, customer equity swaps and synthetic prime brokerage business,” said Steinberg. "Matthew’s 15-plus years of experience, excellent trading skills and strong hedge fund relationships will help us to grow this important initiative."
