Cooper joins RBS from JP Morgan Chase

Royal Bank of Scotland Financial Markets has hired Simon Cooper from JP Morgan Chase as head of programme management.

Cooper will report to RBS Financial Markets chief operating officer, Damian Kissane, and will oversee all technology changes taking place within RBS Financial Markets. Cooper told RiskNews he would initially establish how much RBS Financial Markets is spending on technology, and also attempt to improve efficiency while managing IT project risk.

“He has extensive knowledge and experience of running large and complex programmes of change across all functions," said Kissane.

Previously, Cooper spent 10 years working in JP Morgan’s derivatives business, mainly involved in the bank’s business and technology re-engineering programme for derivatives trading. He was a part of a team responsible for developing Arcordia, a subsidiary of JP Morgan Chase focused on providing outsourced technology and operations services for over-the-counter derivatives.
