Crédit Lyonnais boosts Asian team

French bank Crédit Lyonnais has made three new appointments to its Asian derivatives operations, as part of a drive to boost its interest rates teams in the region.

Crédit Lyonnais named Helena Chen, formerly with Toronto-Dominion Bank, as a fixed-income and derivatives marketer based in Taipei. The French bank has lured Peggy Yeung from JP Morgan Chase to work as a derivatives marketer based in Hong Kong. Finally, Zarir Gandevia joins from Indian bank HDFC to spearhead Crédit Lyonnais’ Indian interest rate derivatives business in Mumbai. “We will make a push in the Indian market from the middle of this year,” said Frédéric Lainé, Hong Kong-based head of fixed-income and derivatives, Asia.

Meanwhile, Eric Lam is rumoured to be joining the bank in mid-May as a credit structurer to bolster Crédit Lyonnais' nascent credit structuring department. Lam works for ING Barings in Singapore, where he is a director in the structured product group. His addition to Crédit Lyonnais would bring its credit structuring team up to three.Earlier this year, the French bank hired Tony Au from Fortis bank to work as a structurer on the marketing side. Lainé declined to comment on an approach to Lam.
