Nomura hires HSBC Asia risk head Denby

Nigel Denby, formerly Asia head of traded credit and market risk at HSBC in Hong Kong, joined Nomura on April 9 in a newly created post as regional head of risk management and credit in the same city.

Denby has overall responsibility for risk, credit and operational risk management in the region for the Japanese bank. The Hong Kong-based risk management team previously reported to Tokyo.

He reports in Hong Kong to Yoshinori Go, chief executive of Nomura Asia Holdings, and to Yoshihiro Fukuta, chief operating officer, and in Tokyo to Hajime Kikuchi, global head of risk management and credit risk.

Denby had spent 25 years with HSBC in a series of management positions in treasury risk and credit.
