Credit Suisse boosts debt-financing team in Asia

Credit Suisse has expanded its debt-financing team for Asia ex-Japan, with 12 hires in Hong Kong.

Derek Armstrong joins as head of the debt financing group, which encompasses debt capital markets, leveraged finance and syndicated lending. He returns to Credit Suisse after two years at Goldman Sachs, where he was head of leveraged finance for Asia ex-Japan.

Yale Du and Guang Yang also join the team and will be part of the coverage team responsible for debt financing origination from China. Du was previously a director in the corporate coverage group at Deutsche Bank, while Yang joins as a vice-president from Standard Bank.

Four other vice-presidents have also joined: Mohamed Atmani from ABN Amro as part of the leveraged finance team; Conan Tam from Goldman Sachs to cover China, South Korea and Indonesia debt capital markets; Michael Lam from Nomura International to oversee coverage for southeast Asia debt capital markets; and Vanessa Chan in the ratings advisory business. Chan is a ratings specialist, formerly with HSBC.

Credit Suisse has also added five analysts and associates to the debt financing group, but did not reveal their names or previous roles.
