BAAM creates CIO position

The Blackstone Group, a New York-based venture capital firm, has appointed Bruce Amlicke as senior managing director and to the newly created position of chief investment officer of Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM), the firm’s $9 billion fund-of-funds group.

Amlicke will be responsible for overseeing investments, risk control and asset allocation. Prior to joining Blackstone, he was chief investment officer for UBS’ global hedge fund-of-funds business within the global asset management group.

The firm has also moved Hal Lindquist, previously senior investment officer to the post of chief investment strategist. Lindquist joined Blackstone in 1996 and served as senior investment officer. In his new role, he will oversee investments, portfolio management and structuring and strategy. His move to chief investment strategist will allow him to increase his focus on strategy and expand his responsibilities, according to the company.
