Sants is currently managing director of wholesale and institutional markets. He will take over as chief executive on July 20; his replacement has not yet been named.

Tiner originally announced his resignation in January this year. He has been chief executive since 2003, before which he was head of the authority's consumer, investment and insurance directorate.
