RBS appoints Burtonshaw as head of finance technology

The Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) financial markets division has made Peter Burtonshaw its new head of finance technology with immediate effect.

Burtonshaw will be responsible for the development and support of all technology applications within the finance area on a global basis, reporting to Ian Thompson, global head of technology development.

Burtonshaw has worked for JP Morgan for the past six years, most recently as head of European financial technology, where he was responsible for 150 staff providing technology support, systems integration and daily financial reporting for nine locations in Europe. His previous roles at JP Morgan included working on the EMU program as global technology and testing manager, and senior project manager for applications development for fixed-income over-the-counter derivatives. Prior to JP Morgan, he worked at SG Warburg and Prudential Assurance.

"His extensive experience and understanding of financial markets and investment banking will further strengthen our technology management team. We now have an extremely strong management team to drive forward RBS financial markets’ aggressive plans to grow our revenue streams through the introduction of innovative product offerings to our clients," said Ian Thompson, global head of technology development.
