CFTC enforcement head returns to private sector

Gregory Mocek, head of the enforcement division at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has resigned to return to private practice.

He will leave the CFTC within two months to join the Washington, DC law firm McDermott Will & Emery as a partner in its energy derivatives markets group. Mocek joined the CFTC in 1998 and has headed the enforcement division since 2002. 

Mocek will be replaced by Stephen Obie, who was appointed acting director of the enforcement division today. Obie is currently regional counsel and regional administrator for the New York CFTC office. He joined the CFTC as a member of the enforcement division in 1998.
