Marsh appoints Hong Kong chairman

US insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh has hired insurance industry veteran Kenneth Kwok in the newly created role of Hong Kong chairman. His role will include developing new relationships in the local business community and strengthening the existing team.

Kwok was most recently chairman of Falcon Insurance Hong Kong, part of Canada's Fairfax Financial Holdings. He has also held senior positions at HSBC Non-Life Holdings, Lombard Insurance Group and Jardine Insurance.

"Risk and risk management is clearly taking a front seat in 2009 for businesses in Asia against the backdrop of unprecedented global uncertainty," said Kwok, who will report to Paul Wilkins, chief executive for greater China at Marsh in Hong Kong.
