WTC bomb prosecutor to lead SEC enforcement

Khuzami replaces Linda Thomsen, who announced her departure earlier this month. He is currently general counsel for the Americas at Deutsche Bank, but between 1993 and 2004 he worked as a federal prosecutor for the New York US Attorney's office, including three years as chief of the securities and commodities fraud task force.

The SEC has come in for intense criticism in recent months over its failure to detect the alleged fraud committed by Bernard Madoff, and will also take charge of the continuing investigation of Allen Stanford, who was tracked down - but not arrested - by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Virginia yesterday.
