JP Morgan boosts gas and energy team

JP Morgan has hired George Taylor as both global head of gas and power trading and US head of gas and power, having spent five years at Morgan Stanley. He reports to David Kitson, head of global energy.

The US bank is also hiring Parker Drew, Catherine Flax and Scott Speaker. Drew joins as managing director and senior gas trader, having run Drew Advisors, a hedge fund, and having also worked for Morgan Stanley before that. He reports to Taylor.

Flax is appointed managing director with responsibility for gas and power origination, joining from UBS, and before that Morgan Stanley. She reports to Steve Griffin, head of commodities marketing in the US. And Speaker joins JP Morgan as vice-president and gas/power strategist from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of Market Oversight and Investigations, where he analysed the gas and power markets as well as congressionally mandated reports on energy issues.

All the new appointments join JP Morgan’s global currency and commodities group in New York.
