ICE promotes Marcial to CTO

Marcial is now responsible for ICE’s systems development and overall technology strategy, leading the technology development programme involving electronic trading of products traded on the recently acquired International Petroleum Exchange (IPE). He oversees a 50-plus team working on software development, quality assurance, security and networking initiatives.

Prior to joining ICE in 1996, Marcial led design and development teams at GE Power Systems (formally Harris Controls) and built distributed applications for the company’s energy management systems.

“In late 1997, long before ICE and other electronic trading systems were launched, it was Edwin’s vision that inspired us to build an internet-enabled Java-based trading system,” commented Jeffrey Sprecher, chief executive of ICE. “As chief technology officer, Edwin will continue to play a vital role in our pledge to become the world's first fully-electronic exchange organisation to offer market participants the option to trade traditional bi-lateral over-the-counter (OTC) products, cleared OTC products, exchange-traded futures, and options on futures.”
