Boberski to head rates strategy at Bear Stearns

US investment bank Bear Stearns has hired David Boberski as managing director and head of interest rate strategy, in a bid to consolidate research across interest rate product lines.

Based in New York, Boberski will report to Dale Westhoff, senior managing director in the financial analytics and structured transaction group (Fast) at Bear Stearns. “In his new role, David will provide our clients with the ability to manage rate exposure by identifying opportunities across various markets," said Westhoff. Boberski is an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois, where he has taught portfolio theory economics. His most recent industry employment was with Bank One in Chicago, where he worked with the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to develop new futures contracts, including interest rate swap futures.

He is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and holds degrees in economics, finance and mathematics from The College of William & Mary in Virginia, the The University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois. Boberski described Bear Stearns’ Fast unit as “one of the most innovative departments on Wall Street”.
