ABN Amro expands forex strategy team

Tony Norfield, ABN Amro's global head of FX strategy, said McMahon's appointment will boost his team’s ability to produce derivatives strategies. “We are looking to do more studies on volatilities and the signals they might give for moves in the spot market,” he said.

ABN Amro hired Rob Hayward from Bank of America as a senior FX strategist in October. The bank has also added to its FX sales staff throughout the year with hires from Deutsche Bank, Chase Fleming Asset Management and Royal Bank of Scotland.

The Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers recently voted McMahon its 2001 ‘Economist of the Year’.
