Barclays Capital appoints leveraged finance head

Barclays Capital has announced the internal appointment of John Kelting as head of European leveraged finance.

He will report to Grant Kvalheim, co-president of Barclays Capital, and replaces Chris Coles. Coles is taking a sabbatical to complete a masters’ degree in international development.

Kelting has worked with the firm since 1998, when he joined as part of a team dedicated to developing the European leveraged finance business. He continues in his present role as managing director and joint head of Barclays’ sponsor origination team until September.

After the move, his colleague John Leach will become sole head of the team. Barclays’ European leveraged finance team has staff based across Europe, although Kelting will remain in London.
