Corbat appointed chief of Citi Holdings

Citi has appointed Mike Corbat as chief executive of Citi Holdings, which includes brokerage and asset management, local consumer finance and a pool of toxic assets that are partly covered by a loss-sharing agreement with the US government.

He has served as interim chief executive since the bank announced on January 16 that it would split into Citi Holdings and Citicorp (which includes corporate, investment and private banking). Before that he was head of Citi's wealth management division.

Corbat will work with Gary Crittenden, who was appointed chairman of Citi Holdings on March 20, to lead these businesses and manage the troubled assets.
