Alpha Investment Management appoints new managing director for risk management

Alpha Investment Management, a provider of hedge funds and fund of funds, with $2.2 billion in assets under management, has appointed Bruce Schreiber as managing director for risk management. Schreiber will be responsible for overseeing all of Alpha's risk management process, and will be based in its New York headquarters.

The selection of each hedge fund manager and the allocation of assets among the strategies employed by Alpha's fund of funds are based on proprietary screening and portfolio construction processes. The performance of each underlying fund manager is also monitored to ensure that stated trading and risk management guidelines are consistently applied.

Schreiber spent the last four years at CIBC World Markets as executive director on the US equities convertible bonds trading desk, where he implemented daily risk management reporting. Prior to that, he was vice-president, institutional marketing at Lehman Brothers.

Schreiber also spent 12 years at Morgan Stanley, where he sold domestic equity derivatives to US institutional accounts.
