Markit names risk management head

London-based data provider Markit has appointed Sal Naro as global co-head of equities, commodities and risk management.

He will be based in the firm's New York office and work alongside London-based co-head Niall Cameron.

Naro joins Markit from Sailfish Capital Partners, a now-defunct hedge fund, where he was co-founder and managing partner.

Previously, he worked at UBS for seven years, most recently as global co-head of fixed income - a role that encompassed trading, syndication and research for all credit markets. Before this he was global head of credit trading at Bear Stearns (acquired by JP Morgan in March), where he worked for close to a decade.
