Putnam Lovell hires hedge fund risk manager

Vasu will use quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess the risk profiles of Putnam Lovell’s investments in existing hedge funds as well as evaluating new managers.

He will report to alternative investment group managing directors Luke Imperatore and Daniel Kochav.

Vasu was previously president of Innovest Management, a New-Jersey based hedge fund company, where he managed an $85 million fund-of-funds portfolio for high-net-worth investors.

Putnam Lovell, a unit of National Bank Financial, was set up in 1987. Its alternative investments group was set up to offer hedge fund services to institutional investors.

It is currently raising institutional backing for two managers that it seeded, Tenor Capital Management and Graph Global Partners.
