CAI adds to emerging markets forex team

Crédit Agricole Indosuez has added to its emerging markets team in South-east Asia.

Remi Soula, formerly head of interest rate trading in Tokyo, transfers to Hong Kong as head of emerging markets trading for north Asia. Soula will build CAI’s interest rate and forex derivatives capabilities, Phillippe Jeanne, global head of emerging markets trading at CAI in Paris told RiskNews' sister publication FX Week . Despite the move, the bank continues to be short-staffed in the region, added Jeanne, due to rising customer demand for exotic products.

The other regional emerging markets trading managers are Stanley Zau in Singapore, Andreas Putz in London and Thomas Johansen in Bahrain. CAI has a team of six to 20 traders for each region.

Crédit Agricole’s December 2002 bid to purchase Credit Lyonnais is set to be completed by the end of the year.
