ABN Amro creates emerging market ABS role

ABN Amro has appointed Gary Watmore to the newly created position of head of emerging markets asset-backed securitisation (ABS) in London. He moves from the bank’s Hong Kong office, where he was most recently head of Asian ABS.

Watmore joined the Dutch dealer in 1998 from Deutsche Bank, and helped create the Asian securitisation business. In his new role, he will concentrate on expanding the business in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. He reports to Gareth Thomas, global head of emerging markets.

Boudewijn Berger takes over as head of Asian ABS. He was previously senior transactor in the Asia ABS team and has worked at ABN Amro for 12 years. He will be working closely with, and will report to, Watmore.
