UniCredit appoints chief risk officer

Italian banking group UniCredit has named Karl Guha as chief risk officer.

UniCredit's board of directors appointed Guha on December 18 and he began his new role on January 1 - becoming a member of the group management committee on the same date.

Guha will report directly to chief executive officer Alessandro Profumo and will be based in Milan. His predecessor, Henning Giesecke, vacated his post on December 31, but will continue to work with Unicredit as chief risk officer of German subsidiary HVB.

Prior to his appointment Guha worked with Dutch bank ABN Amro, holding various positions in structured finance, treasury, finance and risk management in the US, Europe and Australia. Most recently he worked as group head of asset and liability management.
