JPMC snares four equity specialists from Merrill Lynch

JP Morgan Chase has snared four equity derivatives experts from Wall Street rival Merrill Lynch. The foursome includes Merrill co-heads of risk trading, Matt Celebuski and Eric Moore.

The hires follow a strategic review at Merill Lynch's equity unit conducted by co-heads of equities Jeffery Edwards and Sergio Emotti in November. A number of employees have left the bank as a result of the shake-up.

JP Morgan Chase said Celebuski and Moore would join the US investment bank's program trading team as managing director and vice-president, respectively. Tom Kane was made managing director of US equity sales trading and John Carillo was named vice-president in equity derivatives sales.

Kane was head of North American portfolio sales at Merrill Lynch, while Carillo worked as a portfolio trading salesperson.
