SGX appoints Foo head of operations

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has appointed Benjamin Foo as head of operations.

He is currently SGX's head of AsiaClear, which clears over-the-counter oil and freight derivatives, as well as leading the clearing and commodities departments.

The new appointment takes effect from March 1, 2009. Foo will be responsible for the company's trading, clearing and settlement operations of the securities and derivatives markets, as well as the securities depository function. He joined SGX in March 2001.

Foo will continue to support SGX's OTC initiatives while he moves to his new role. Elena Sng, a senior vice-president at the firm, will take on Foo's previous role on March 1.
