BoA's head of energy trading moves to hedge fund

Julian Barrowcliffe, formerly global head of energy trading for Bank of America in New York, has joined Vega Asset Management. In his new role, Barrowcliffe will manage a commodities trading fund for the New York-based hedge fund with $11 billion under management.

"Julian is widely recognised as one of the top commodities traders in the business. His experience and professionalism are a great addition to the Vega team," said Jon Berg, chief executive of Vega Asset Management. "We believe that adding a commodities component to Vega's overall portfolio will positively enhance our performance from a risk/reward standpoint. Julian is principally a relative-value trader, and that's completely in line with Vega's approach to other markets, making him a great fit for the firm."Barrowcliffe started his career at Shell International Trading Company in London as a crude oil trader, and has also led commodities trading teams at Bankers Trust, Merrill Lynch and Cinergy Capital & Trading.
