NewSmith hires two for Italy

NewSmith Financial Solutions has hired two bankers to grow its advisory team. Ercole Manzi and Maurizio Tassi have joined the firm as partners to focus on Italian clients.

Manzi joins NewSmith from UBS, were he was a director in credit derivatives structuring. Tassi ran Italian equity capital markets at Citigroup. TJ Lim, NewSmith's co-founder, said the hires were made to grow the firm's balance sheet and capital structure advisory business in Italy.

NewSmith Financial Solutions was established two years ago by Lim, who had been head of Merrill Lynch's European debt business; Glenn Barnes Merrill's former head of European structured credit; and Kevin Krespi, Merrill's head of Asian debt.
