SEC fills commissioner positions

Troy Paredes and Luis Aguilar have joined the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as commissioners.

This brings the total amount of commissioners up to five. They will work alongside the SEC’s existing commissioners Christopher Cox, Kathleen Casey and Elisse Walter.

Paredes was previously a professor at Washington University School of Law in Missouri, teaching and researching securities regulation and corporate governance. Aguilar was a partner in the Atlanta office of law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge, where he covered corporate governance, public and private offerings, mutual funds, investment advisers and broker-dealers.

They fill the vacancies left by Paul Atkins, Annette Nazareth and Roel Campos, who have all left the SEC within the past 12 months.
