Darras named Isda's general counsel, Americas

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association (Isda) has appointed Katherine Tew Darras as its general counsel, Americas, and head of equity, foreign exchange and interest rate legal. In her new role, she reports to David Geen, Isda’s general counsel.

Darras joined the organisation in 2001 as assistant general counsel. Since then, she has focused on equity, foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives, as well as legal and regulatory matters in Canada. As part of her new New York-based role, Darras will take on responsibility for Isda’s Latin America Committee and will continue her work in Canada.

“Her extensive work has contributed to refining the process by which a wide and varied range of equity derivatives are documented and transacted globally,” said Robert Pickel, Isda's chief executive officer.

Concurrently, Mark New was promoted to assistant general counsel. New joined Isda in 2007 and is based in the association’s Washington, DC office. He will focus primarily on credit derivatives documentation.
