Ian Harley, chief executive of UK retail bank Abbey National, was forced to resign last month following months of speculation about his future, after the bank unveiled large losses due to poor risk management in its wholesale banking unit.
His resignation follows the redundancies of the two executives responsible for a £256 million loss related to junk bond
