Morgan Stanley FCM capital surges to record $26.7 billion

July’s $6 billion increase is largest in firm’s history, despite lower capital requirements

Morgan Stanley’s futures commission merchant (FCM) unit added $6.2 billion of adjusted net capital in July, its largest monthly increase on record, and enough to make it the most capitalised US FCM for the first time.

The increase was equivalent to a 30% rise month-on-month, with the bank holding $26.7 billion of capital at the end of July.
