EC urged to reconsider TTF price cap
“Heated” discussion among European energy ministers throws planned safeguards into further chaos
The European Commission has failed to quell concerns around its proposals to safeguard European energy markets, despite assertions that a controversial price cap could be suspended if it poses a wider risk to supply or stability.
European energy ministers met on November 24 to discuss proposals aimed at alleviating high gas prices across the bloc. The measures include a market correction mechanism, which would cap the price of front-month TTF gas futures under certain conditions.
