Many EU banks’ sovereign portfolios highly concentrated
Forty-eight lenders have more than three-quarters of sovereign risk allocated to home country
More than one-third of banks in the European Banking Authority’s (EBA) 2018 transparency exercise had more than 75% of their total sovereign exposures allocated to their home country at end-June 2018, Risk Quantum analysis shows.
The group was made up of: 11 banks from Germany; five from Italy and Spain; four from France and Sweden; two from Finland, the Netherlands, Poland and the UK; and one
