EC derivatives consultation stops short of detail on corporate exemptions
Long-awaited derivatives proposals focus on standards for central counterparties that clear OTC derivatives.
A consultation paper on derivatives markets infrastructure published yesterday by the European Commission gives extensive detail on requirements for central counterparties (CCPs) that clear over-the-counter derivatives, but has stopped short of explaining exactly how corporate users of derivatives might be treated in the forthcoming legislation.
The 25-page consultation document tackles questions relating to the eligibility of derivatives contracts for clearing, the requirements for CCPs
