UNFCCC official: public and private sectors must work together on CDMs
The relationship between the public and private sector needs to be strengthened at a quicker pace to ensure the future of project-based mechanisms such as clean development mechanism (CDM) and joint implementation (JI) projects, says a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) official.
"I wouldd like [the relationship between the UNFCCC and business sector] to develop faster," says John Kilani, director of the Sustainable Development Mechanisms (SDM) programme at the UN climate change secretariat. "Building relationships is always a slow thing but we are trying our best. I would not say the situation is exactly where I want it to be right now, but we are definitely headed
