Equity and bond trade bodies reunite after 30-year split

SIA and BMA announce plans to merge, creating a pan-industry 'heavy hitter'

The Securities Industry Association (SIA) and the Bond Market Association (BMA),the trade bodies representing the equity and bond markets respectively, plan to form a single entity by the end of June. In a joint statement, the two associations said a combined unit would "more effectively represent the interests of the securities industry and the broad array of equity and fixed-income marketsoOo-#34;. The boards will vote on the merger by June 30, followed by a vote of the full membership.
