Final statement on CSFTs is published

WASHINGTON DC – In January, US financial regulators issued a final statement on financial institutions' complex structured finance transactions (CSFTs).

The CSFT statement, which had been the subject of controversy when it was in draft form, describes the types of internal controls and risk management procedures that should help financial institutions identify, manage and address the legal and reputational risks that may arise from certain CSFTs.

The original inter-agency statement regarding CSFTs, issued in May 2004, caused a number of complaints
