White paper reform

The UK government's white paper on pension reform has pledged to restore the link between earnings and pensions, and an expansion of the number of people covered by the Basic State Pension (BSP) follows closely with the ideas put forward in the Pensions Commission report, which was published at the end of 2005.

This move marks an initial victory for the views of Pensions Commission chairman, Adair Turner, in his bid to reduce the future number of pensioners on means-tested benefits. According to
